Honu Seafood & Pizza Review
Honu is located right on the ocean on Front Street in Lahaina, so you are literally next to the waves and have spectacular views of the neighboring islands. We arrived at 6 pm and decided to have a drink at the bar. Honu offers many specialty drinks, so we ordered a couple of local cocktails called Guava Pisco Sours that are made from Barsol Pisco, Orchid Guava liqueur, pasteurized egg whites and fresh lime sour, strained into a martini glass. Simply amazing! The bar is right at the front of the restaurant as you go in, so you get a panoramic view of the whole restaurant.
Their menu includes many unique items such as oysters, clams, and octopus – in addition to fresh seafood, lamb, and many wonderful vegetarian dishes. If you happen to be into more traditional fare, they have an amazing selection of brick-oven pizzas, and even a traditional burger made with fresh Kobe beef.
The restaurant is run by Chef Mark Ellman, Owner and Chef of Frida’s Mexican Beach House next door. Chef Ellman insists on using only the freshest meat, seafood, and ingredients available on Maui. The Ahi Bruschetta and Spanish Octopus are very tender and flavorful. The Ahi is beyond delicious, and the Mac n’ Cheese is made with lobster and truffle oil, nirvana!
