Xian Private Charters Review
On a recent trip to Maui, my husband and I booked a charter with the highly-recommended boat Xian. I think I had as much fun as my husband did!
Captain Mark took us out on a typically beautiful Maui day. After a 7:00 am launch onto smooth seas, clear skies, and 72-degree weather, we enjoyed watching whales and dolphins at play. A gorgeous Haleakala sunrise served as a backdrop to some of nature’s best scenery. Captain Mark was great: friendly, knowledgeable, safety-conscious, and he has 20 years experience. He’s the kind of guy that gives you the confidence to really relax and enjoy yourselves.
There is gear aboard for everything. The boat gives you a sense of comfort and has a really nice foredeck with open seating for better sight-seeing and whale-watching. You can move fore and aft very easily and there are plenty of hand-holds. The boat has plenty of room for up to 6 passengers, and it runs very quiet, which makes a big difference after 4 hours or so at sea!
We went south from Kihei to the lava flows of La Perouse bay. Mark pointed out the best snorkel spots, sea turtles hang outs, and some very interesting sea caves formed by lava tubes from hundreds of years ago. The snorkeling on Maui is hard to beat and the visibility was fantastic.
We learned many fascinating facts about whales, geology, fish, Maui, and more! For more information on chartering Xian, you can call 808-769-6808 or go to MauiPrivateCharterBoat.com.
