Piiholo Zipline Review

Piiholo Ranch began as a dream of Peter Baldwin, a 5th generation descendant of Reverend Dwight Baldwin who came to Maui in the 1830s as a missionary. Pete’s great love of the outdoors led him to found Piiholo Ranch with the help of his three sons Jeff, Duke and Chris. Inspired by the growing field of eco-tourism and wanting to share the beauty of the ranch lands, Jeff approached Pete about building a zip-line course on a corner of the Ranch. With rolling meadows, deep gulches and a high hill commanding spectacular views, this particular area offered a perfect setting for a world-class zip-line adventure.

Piiholo_leftThe three brothers researched the best designers, the most respected builders, and the highest quality materials for their zip-line. After two and a half years of hard work and development, Piiholo Ranch Zipline opened to the public. Designed to showcase its beautiful setting, the course crosses deep gulches and tall trees, and offers stunning vistas from mountain to sea. Since March 2011, Piiholo Ranch Zipline’s newest adventure, The Canopy Course, has been offering exhilarating zips through the treetops, enabling a close-up view of an island landscape few visitors ever experienced before now.

Zip lining is a breath-taking adventure which, for me, required a shoring up of courage to even try. But a friend convinced me and, when all was said and done, I wanted to go again, and again, and again! The people of Piiholo Ranch Zipline are wonderful hosts: they break everything down for you, make sure you’re aware of what you need to do to be safe. They’re knowledgeable, funny and extremely helpful. The guides also give you a lesson on the forest around you, the history of the area, and even a sample of the local tree fruit! Check out their tours at PiiholoZipline.com, or call 800-374-7050 to book your adventure!
