Leoda’s Kitchen and Pie Shop Review
Slow down as you drive through the little roadside village of Olowalu, about 15 minutes before Lahaina Town if you’re coming from the airport, so you don’t miss Leoda’s Kitchen and Pie Shop – an adorable plantation style restaurant and pie shop where everything is prepared fresh daily with love! This is the kind of home-cooked food that Grandma used to make, but with a twist of unique locally-sourced ingredients. From the old photos of the area, to the distressed wood and muted colors, this place has atmosphere to spare.
You can have a made-to-order sandwich, or a fantastic burger with sweet Kula onions – all the breads are home baked and excellent, and everything on the menu is fresh and delicious. Most of the ingredients are sourced locally, and their salads are the best ever! They pride themselves on serving “glorified grandma comfort food” so you know you’re in for a real treat. Don’t get too full though, you have to save room for a piece of pie – these are what Leoda’s is famous for – pies to satisfy every taste and appetite. In the Individual Sizes they have Savory Chicken, Meat N’ Potato with a hearty herb and cheese crust, Savory Mushroom, and even a Carnitas Pie with cilantro and pico de gallo. Then they have their dessert pies, which just melt in your mouth – Apple Crumb, Banana Cream, Berry, Pumpkin, Coconut Cream – the list goes on and on! But my all time favorite is the Chocolate Mac Nut Pie – seriously a pie to die for!
Leoda’s Kitchen and Pie Shop is located just off the Honoapiilani Highway, so it’s convenient to both the West Side and Kahului – and a perfect place to stop for lunch after a morning walk on the beach at Olowalu. You can see their menu online by going here, or call them at 808-662-3600. For more info visit their website at Leodas.com. They are open everyday from 7:00am – 8:00pm, so stop by and give yourself a big treat!
